The local planning commission has unanimously recommended disapproval for a proposed data center campus in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The project, led by Penzance Development, was denied due to issues with the planned transmission lines needed to power the site.
The proposed campus would include four data center buildings totaling 2.1 million square feet at 1500 Gateway Boulevard. The full build-out is projected for 2032.
According to Penzance, the project was expected to generate up to $50 million in annual tax revenue and create around 240 jobs.
