NTT is planning a large data center campus in Nierstein, approximately 50km south of Frankfurt. The planned facility would be located in the Rhein-Selz Park, potentially covering 70 hectares with a power capacity of 500MW or more. The estimated investment for this project is €5 billion ($5.9bn).

The Rhein-Selz Park, which encompasses about 750,000 sqm (8 million sq ft), is being developed on the site of a former US Army installation. This property, previously known as Anderson Barracks, served the US military from 1953 until around 2009. It was home to the 123rd Main Support Battalion and the 501st Military Intelligence Battalion. In 2015, plans were announced to transform the area into an industrial park. The real estate firm Richter Group is now overseeing the development of this expansive site.
