Data center

Kyndryl-operated enterprise data center in Boulder, Colorado (6300 Diagonal Hwy), carried over from IBM in the Kyndryl spin-off. Roughly 115,000 sq ft building (~70,000 sq ft gross data center), built out in phases — Phase 1 ~60,000 sq ft / ~6 MW to an ultimate design of ~100,000 sq ft / ~15 MW. Modular design lets further capacity be added in roughly half the time of a traditional build-out.

Design & efficiency

  • Free-cooling (outside-air economization) for nearly half the year; heat-exchanger mechanical design roughly 50% more efficient than a chiller-only system.
  • Intelligent, sensor-driven cooling continuously reads temperature, humidity, and airflow across the floor and adjusts dynamically to trim cooling energy.
  • Reflective roof and rainwater collection for reuse; the majority of the original building shell was reused in construction, with a high share of construction waste recycled.
