The Energy Ranch project is a large-scale "power-linked" data center campus designed to integrate traditional energy infrastructure with modern digital demand. Spearheaded by HC Capital Partners and the Herrmann Family Companies, the project spans 1,500 acres in South Texas (Atascosa County) and aims to bypass typical grid delays by using on-site natural gas generation and a "private-grid" design.
With an initial Phase 1 investment estimated at $2 billion to $4 billion, the project is currently in the early stages of infrastructure development. Construction is slated to progress throughout 2026, with the first phase of power and data capacity expected to be operational within 24 to 30 months.
A key highlight of the development remains its sustainability strategy, which focuses on repurposing "produced water" from nearby oil and gas operations for its thermal cooling systems, significantly reducing the reliance on local freshwater resources.
