Vantage Data Centers' second Silicon Valley campus sits on 9 acres on Mathew Street in Santa Clara, about 0.3 miles west of Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport. Rail tracks bound it to the east and a Home Depot to the north. The site combines three former industrial parcels at 651, 725 and 825 Mathew Street; two were 1940s canneries. Their buildings were demolished in 2018.

Development. Vantage announced the campus in 2016 as a four-building plan, then reconfigured it into three four-story buildings totaling about 541,000 sq ft. The City of Santa Clara adopted a Mitigated Negative Declaration for the McLaren Data Center project. The California Energy Commission exempted its McLaren Backup Generating Facility (17-SPPE-01) on November 7, 2018. DPR Construction built the campus, Sheehan Nagle Hartray Architects designed it, and PASE did the structural design.

Power. Silicon Valley Power serves the campus through the on-site Parker Substation, a 100 MVA, 60 kV substation. Vantage built it to SVP standards under a 2017 agreement, and SVP owns and operates it. Vantage markets three on-site 50 MW transformers, 415/240V distribution and N+1 redundancy. Backup power comes from 50 permitted diesel generators in the 2.75 MW class, plus life-safety units. The Bay Area Air Quality Management District permitted four more 4,043 hp generators for CA23 in August 2024.

Ownership. CA21 sits in Vantage SDC, the stabilized-asset vehicle Vantage formed with DigitalBridge (then Colony Capital) in July 2020. Vantage SDC bought CA22 for $539 million in October 2021.
