Aligned Data Centers' Maryland project has seen several shifts. Initially announced in May 2022 as the first tenant at TPG Real Estate's (formerly Quantum Loophole) campus, Aligned planned a 3.3 million square foot data center. The company withdrew in 2023 when Maryland restricted diesel generator usage. However, following regulatory changes, Aligned recommitted to the project in 2024.
In 2025, Aligned Data Centers broke ground on its data center in Frederick County, Maryland.
