Vietnam: Viettel To Develop The Largest Data Center in Vietnam

Vietnam-based telecommunication firm Viettel has announced plans to develop a new data center in Ho Chi Minh City. The company revealed that it would be developing the largest data center in the country. Viettel aims to invest up to VND 6,000 billion ($261 million) in the data center project. Although the company did not reveal specific development timelines of the project, it will be its third data center in Ho Chi Minh city. Viettel did not also disclose the specifications of the facility.
Viettel Group was established in the 1980s as a construction company. The telecommunications firm is owned by the state and operated by the country’s Ministry of Defence. Viettel IDC was established in 2008, and it offers cloud and colocation services across five data centers in the country, totaling 269,100 square feet (25,000 square meters).
