Vantage Data Centers has announced plans for a second data center campus in Johannesburg, Japan. The facility called JNB2 will be located in Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg. JNB2’s first building will feature a two-story, 33,000 square meter (355,000 square foot), 20MW data center. It is scheduled to come online in 2024.

Vantage Data Centers’ EMEA President, Antoine Boniface, said: “South Africa continues to be a cornerstone for Vantage’s EMEA growth outside of continental Europe. Investing in a second campus is a testament to our commitment to the region and our customers who have business requirements to be in this high-demand market.”

Vantage Data Centers revealed that the JNB2’s first data center would use a closed-loop water system for cooling. The Ekurhuleni Municipal will provide the site with power. A dedicated on-site, high-voltage substation will also be present on the campus.
