V.tal has shared that it is expanding its footprint in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Set to be the company’s first in the country’s south region and fifth overall, the development (dubbed V.OA) will see an investment of 250mn reais (US$50.7mn), as part of the company’s wider expansion plan in Brazil and Colombia.

Work on the facility is expected to commence later this year, while activation is expected for the second half of 2024.

Located on 7,000m2 (5,000m2 of built area) in Bairro Quarto Distrito, it will offer 6MW in power capacity, with support for 400 racks in four data halls.

“Increasingly, content providers want to be closer to their users in order to offer them a better experience when using applications. We chose Rio Grande do Sul because it is a state undergoing rapid technological development, has a strong and active ecosystem and a privileged location to serve customers from the southern cone countries,” commented Felipe Campos, Vice President of Wholesale at V.tal.
