V.tal, a Brazilian data center company, revealed plans for a new facility in Porto Alegre. The data center will accommodate 400 racks of servers in two data halls spanning 75,350 square feet. This year is anticipated to be the start of construction for an H2 2024 completion date. The company stated that $41.1 million will be invested in the 6MW facility.

The company first proposed plans for an Edge facility in Porto Alegre in December 2022, proposing a 4MW data center. The site, according to BNAmericas, is a warehouse in Bairro Quarto Distrito that will be renovated.

V.tal also maintains 10MW of data centers in Rio de Janeiro Fortaleza, Brazil, and Barranquilla, Colombia. Earlier this year, the company acquired additional land in Fortaleza for a second data center slated to go live in 2025 and is also planning the launch of a second data center in Barranquilla later this year.

V.tal is a fiber company now a subsidiary of the telecommunications company GlobeNet and was formerly a division of Oi's fiber-optic infrastructure assets. Last year, GlobeNet owner BTG acquired a majority stake in V.tal.
