Zimbabwe’s state-owned telecommunication company TelOne has announced the opening of its new data center in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The 400kW, 120 rack data center is built to Tier 3 standard, and it is the first of its kind in Matabeleland, south of the country. The facility also offers redundant power and cooling. Yet, the company still faces some problems at its data centers. One of such problems is network vandalism by those looking to steal copper.
The chairman of TelOne, Dr. Douglas Zimbango, said the company hopes an upgraded fiber network coupled with its wireless broadband LTE services will help mitigate the risk. Besides, according to TelOne, all its customers can get 100% managed disaster recovery services from the data center.
