Scala Data Centers has broken ground on two new hyperscale facilities in Brazil. Scala DC was formed in 2020 by DigitalBridge for the sole purpose of developing hyperscale data centers in South America. Scala Data Centers will be developing the SP4 and SP5 hyperscale facilities in Barueri, Sao Paulo.

The SP4 facility will have 18MW of capacity. The full capacity has also been committed to an undisclosed cloud provider. The SP5 data center has 9MW of capacity, and it is also planned for a single tenant. Scala DC revealed that both the SP4 and SP5 facilities would be powered by renewable energy. Both facilities are scheduled to be in operation by April and September of 2022, respectively. The CEO and co-founder of Scala Data Centers, Marcos Peigo, said the development of both data centers in Sao Paulo shows the company’s commitment to the growth of its customers’ IT infrastructure.
