Scala Data Centers has announced the launch of its SP4 data center in Sao Paulo, Brazil. SP4 is located on the company’s Tambore data center campus in the Barueri area of Sao Paulo. The company told BNAmericas that the data center is at its first stage and will provide up to 6MW of IT power. The second phase of the data center will also come online in September while adding an extra 6MW in IT power.

Scala Data Centers started work on the facility late last year. The data center was initially scheduled to come online in April 2021. Upon full buildout, SP4 will provide 18MW of IT capacity. All 18MW of power has already been committed to a single unknown cloud provider. The data center spans 13,000 square meters (140,000 square feet) across seven floors.

The CEO and co-founder of Scala Data Centers, Marcos Vinícius B. Peigo, said: “By adding these developments to our multi-tenant SP1, we have achieved the impressive mark of 90MW fully leased in our Brazilian flagship Tamboré Campus, which makes it by far, just considering its first phase, the largest campus in Latin America and one of the biggest in the world.”
