Scala Data Centers has announced that its SP4 single-tenant hyperscale site, which was initially projected to go live in April, will now launch in July. The site, based in Tamboré in São Paulo's metropolitan region, will be the largest vertical datacenter in Latin America, spanning 13,000m2 across seven floors. According to the company, the site will have a PUE (power usage efficiency) average rate of 1.38.
The company has also announced that it has finished construction of SP5, based in the same Tamboré campus, which is due to be operational by March 2023. This facility will also have the same PUE as SP4.
Speaking to BNamericas, CEO Marcos Peigo commented: "The project design included a commitment [capacity] part and a reserve [capacity] part. The customer exercised the reserve right early and increased the initial phase capacity. With that, we ended up lining up with the customer to have the building delivered in July."
