Rackspace Experiences Disruptions in London, Sydney and Hong Kong

May 31, 2023 | Posted by Abdul-Rahman Oladimeji

Rackspace is presently experiencing an outage across its European and Asia-Pacific data centers. In their SYD2, LON5, LON3, and HKG5 data centers, they encountered connectivity issues. Later, Rackspace announced that it had been discovered that any affected Linux VMs (virtual machines) would require a manual reboot to restart because storage had been changed. When necessary, Rackspace engineers can restart affected VMs from the portal.

Initially, the company blamed the problem on the Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) system in London but subsequently ruled this out. The company then stated that the outage was caused by incorrectly resetting I/O limits in the multi-tenant Shared SAN environment.

Rackspace has 20 sites.
