Vocus Melbourne (55 King): Vocus’ Melbourne Data Center Experiences Downtime Due to a UPS Issue

An outage was brought on by a UPS issue at a Melbourne, Australia-based Vocus data center. Recently, Vocus reported a "major incident" at its VDC-MEL03 data center, located at 530 Collins Street in Melbourne, Victoria, on its status page. On-site power had been out between 09:02 and 09:27 AEDT on March 13, 2023, and again between 10:13 and 10:20 AEDT. This included protected circuits. Since then, the company's efforts to restore services such IP Network Services, Vocus Cloud Services, NBN Services, Voice Services, DNS Facilities, and local Transmission Services have been successful. Moreover, dual feed colocation power has been fully recovered. 

A feed Power was successfully restored through emergency repair work, and subsequent work to entirely replace the malfunctioning UPS is expected for Friday, March 17. Customers, including Aussie Broadband and ISPs like Dodo and iPrimus, reportedly had problems as a result of the outage, according to ITnews. The data facility at 530 Collins Street has been run by Vocus for more than ten years. The corporation relocated into the defunct ASX facility in 2013 and stated at the time it could construct 400 racks. A 2MW, 17,200 square foot, 330 rack 5GN data center, which was acquired from Melbourne Datacenter in 2019, is also housed in the structure.
