Rack Centre has doubled the capacity of its data center campus in Lagos through expansion. With the expansion, the facility now has 1.5MW of capacity. The expansion also sees Rack Centre add 6,500 square feet of white space to the facility. Rack Centre is also looking to expand the facility further by adding 13MW of capacity across eight new data halls in 2022. Upon completion, the halls will provide retail colocation and wholesale space for hyperscale and cloud customers.

MD of Rack Centre, Dr. Ayotunde Coker, was quoted to have said “The Lagos Campus data center has grown to be the largest carrier-neutral digital infrastructure hub in West Africa and West Central Africa, halving the latency of data transfer from South Africa to Europe and the USA” Besides, Rack Centre will be funding the expansion of the facility through a $250 million pan-African data center platform established by Actis and Convergence Partners in 2020.
