Navégalo, a Latin American data center company, will soon open a new facility in Costa Rica. This week, the company announced that the 300-rack facility will launch on August 15. Phase one will provide 5MW, and the data center will be expandable to 15MW. The new facility is ANSI/TIA-942 Rated 3, and certification for Uptime Tier III is anticipated by the end of the year. Navégalo was established in 2002 and provides hosting, domains, VoIP, cybersecurity, and colocation solutions. Prior to 2019, the corporation was known as Grupo GMS and took over Rack Lodge, Boomerang Wireless, Othos Telecom, and Block DDoS.
Along with its two San José sites, Navégalo is also present in Miami, Florida (through Equinix & Digital Realty), San Salvador, El Salvador; Guatemala City, Guatemala; Tegucigalpa, Honduras; Managua, Nicaragua; and Balboa, Panama. Local companies such as ADN, Codisa, Serverslodge, CRServers, and Racknation are present in Costa Rica's small data center market. Recent reports indicate that Layer 9 is investigating the possibility of developing a campus in Costa Rica at the request of a hyperscale client.
