For its future growth, Layer 9 Data Centers is apparently considering an expansion into Central America. According to BNAmericas, the company is seeking land for its second project in a number of Latin American nations at the request of its clients. Michael Ortiz, the company's CEO and co-founder, informed the outlet that they are searching for locations to acquire property for their second project in Costa Rica, Uruguay, and Panama. In the upcoming 18 months, they may consider doing this. According to reports, the corporation is collaborating with the Newmark group and is only looking to purchase land in one of the three nations. An undisclosed hyperscale client requested the expansion.

2020-founded Layer 9 is already building its first facility in Guanajuato, Mexico. Two 32MW buildings will be constructed on the 80-acre Project Falcon site, and there is also room for an additional five structures with a combined capacity of more than 100MW. The first 3MW phase of building one is expected to be turned over to the client by the end of next year, according to BNAmericas. According to Ortiz, the company is also in talks with three larger corporations, one wanting to take the entire second building.

None of the major hyperscale businesses presently operates in Panama, Uruguay, or Costa Rica; Google, on the other hand, has purchased 30 acres in Canelones, Uruguay, for a prospective future data center, though it has not yet revealed its expansion intentions.
