GE Appliances is offering its data center in Louisville, Kentucky, for purchase or lease. General Electric has hired JLL, according to a report this week, to market the data center at 4000 Buechel Bank Road in the 1,000-acre GE Appliance Park in Jefferson District for sale or lease. The GE Data Center, located on 47 acres, is a single-story building with a total area of 53,385, including 14,350 square feet of raised floor space with room for expansion to 20,000 square feet. The facility's initial capacity is 1.35MW, which can be increased to 2.7MW if necessary. It was constructed in 2010–2011. According to JLL, the building has two data halls, one complete and operational, while the other is still in the shell stage of construction. The current rack density at the data center is 14kW, and there is talk of expanding it to 24kW. Fiber optic Internet service is available to the building from AT&T and Lumen. The building's location has also earned Platinum LEED certification.

In a booming Louisville market with limited colocation availability, the site offers exceptional infrastructure over market density, ready to use now, according to Sean Reynolds, managing director and co-leader of JLL's Midwest Chicago Data Center Services. With its headquarters in Louisville since the 1950s, GE Appliances was a division of General Electric until 2014, when Electrolux, a Swedish appliance manufacturer, acquired it. In 2016, KKR and the Chinese appliance manufacturer Haier purchased the business, and they will continue to use the GE trademark until 2056. Carter Validus acquired another GE-occupied data center in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2017, with the conglomerate leasing the facility until 2027. Mapletree Industrial Trust now owns the facility.
