Further information has emerged about GreenSquare's data center plans. The company, which describes itself as an ‘emerging sustainability-oriented data center provider,’ has obtained planning permission for a new 96MW data center in Perth, Australia, after its application was approved by Metro Inner-South Joint Development Assessment panel members earlier this month. Projected to be the largest in the region, the company is expecting to develop a four-story data center with 68,000 sqm of gross floor area spanning 38,000sqm of land, which Bulong Pty Ltd owns.

Founder and CEO of GreenSquareDC Walt Coulston said: “We are extremely excited and proud of this important step towards launching our first data center development under GreenSquareDC. This initial project is of significant scale in a sector of growing importance to the digital economy, leveraging our combined more than 150 years’ experience in the digital infrastructure space.”

Adding: “GreenSquareDC is committed to helping solve the world’s toughest sustainability challenges associated with digital infrastructure, energy consumption, and water usage. Our innovative data center design is focused on helping our customers deliver greater business value with far greater ESG consciousness and transparency. Sustainability is, and will always be, at the core of what we do."

Construction is expected to begin in 2023, with the completion of the first stage estimated by mid-2024.
