GreenSquareDC leases tract of land in Western Australia for wind & solar park to power data center

GreenSquareDC has shared that it is leasing a large tract of land at at Billericay Road in East Hyden, Perth, Western Australia,  to develop a wind and solar park to power its 96MW data center. 

The long-term ground lease is for over 3,100 hectares of land, and on this land, the company will build a 150MW wind and solar farm to power its upcoming data center (WAi1) with 24/7 renewable power.

The facility located in the Belmont area of Perth, will be a four-story data center with 68,000 sqm of gross floor area on 38,000 sqm of land. According to reports, construction is scheduled to begin in 2023. The first phase of the development is pegged to be complete by mid-2024.

“At WAi1, our focus is to service hyperscale, government, and wholesale enterprise customers  seeking traditional or AI-enabled workloads, who prefer cost-effective, highly sustainable, ESG focused outcomes,” commented Walt Coulston, Founder & CEO of GreenSquareDC.
