Data Center of Up to 50,000 Sqm Approved for Construction in West London, UK

A data center of up to 50,000 square meters has been approved for construction at the Haslemere Heathrow Estate in west London. Hounslow Council approved plans for three data center buildings on the site of the existing industrial estate. The facility is expected to require 64MW of power and provide 48MW of IT capacity, with a target PUE of 1.35.
The project was proposed by Brixton (Heathrow Estate) Ltd, a company linked to California-based real estate investment firm Kennedy Wilson. Kennedy Wilson has previously proposed a 73MW data center campus near Slough, the UK’s largest data center hub by capacity. Brixton said it does not operate data centers and that a future operator will develop the final facility through the reserved matters process.
“The Heathrow Estate is failing to maximize its potential. Redevelopment as a data center could lead to a wide range of local benefits, including significant [Community Infrastructure Levy] payments, higher Business Rates income, and the creation of skilled jobs in the local area,” said the company on its project website.
