Western Hospitality: Braidwood

The Western Hospitality Partners (WHP) Braidwood Campus is a proposed large-scale data center development located roughly 50 miles southwest of Chicago. Situated in close proximity to the 2.2GW Braidwood Nuclear Generating Station, the project was originally envisioned as an eight-building campus intended to leverage the area's high-density power infrastructure.

However, as of late January 2026, the project has been placed on an indefinite hold following an announcement by the City of Braidwood. The pause is attributed to ComEd’s transmission infrastructure constraints, as the current electrical grid cannot yet support the massive power demands of the facility. While the developer has reportedly closed on the land acquisition, the project’s future remains in doubt pending significant multi-year utility upgrades.
