Project Tamarack is a $12 billion data center campus that Starwood Digital Ventures, the data center platform of Starwood Capital Group, plans about four miles north of Point Pleasant. The campus will draw grid power through transmission lines and utility infrastructure already at the property. Governor Patrick Morrisey said Starwood will fund that infrastructure rather than pass the cost to ratepayers.
The state certified Tamarack as a high-impact data center under the 2025 Power Generation and Consumption Act, which limits local regulation of certified projects. Site work is scheduled from March 2027 to April 2029. The project website promises more than 1,000 construction jobs, more than 300 permanent jobs, and a community advisory group of Mason County residents.
