The proposed Project Aggie data center in College Station, Texas, led by Priority Power Management, LLC, has been cancelled. The project was derailed when the College Station City Council unanimously rejected the $30 million sale of the necessary 200 acres of land in the Midtown Business Park on September 11.
The planned facility was massive, projected to offer up to 600MW capacity and require a capital expenditure of up to $4 billion. The Council's decision was a direct response to overwhelming community opposition citing major concerns regarding noise pollution, excessive utility demands, and potential environmental impacts. Without the land sale, the development of the data center at this site cannot proceed.
