Launched as Online Technologies Corporation in 1994 as a dial-up internet company and evolved into data center hosting and colocation services.

In 2018, Schurz Communications, a media and telecommunications company based in South Bend, Ind invested in the company. Later that same year, Online Tech acquired the global cloud infrastructure assets of Neverfail.

In 2019, Online Tech rebranded as Otava.
