Maverick Project

The Maverick Project is an ambitious, phased development in Wise County, Virginia, designed to transform a 450-acre former coal mine site into a premier hyperscale technology hub. A collaboration between developer OASIS (Wise Innovation Hub Venture) and independent power producer Red Post Energy, the project addresses the industry's primary bottleneck by providing "behind-the-meter" natural gas-fired power generation.

By leveraging the unique geology of Southwest Virginia, the site provides a sustainable competitive edge: nearly 10 billion gallons of 52°F underground mine water will be used for geothermal cooling, potentially reducing energy requirements for temperature control by up to 90%. By combining low regional tax rates, on-site power independence, and innovative cooling, the Maverick Project positions itself as a faster, more cost-effective, and environmentally conscious alternative to the overtaxed data center markets in Northern Virginia.
