Meta
Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook, operates a large data center campus in Altoona, Iowa, located at 100 Share Way NW. The company began construction on the project in 2013, with the first data center becoming operational in 2014. Currently, the Altoona site consists of 10 data centers, covering a total area of 5.0 million square feet.
Over the past 11 years, Meta has invested more than $2.5 billion in this campus. The scale of the operation is evident in its resource consumption: the Altoona data centers use 1.0 million MWh of electricity annually and withdraw 52.7 million gallons (199.4 million liters) of water per year.
