Ark: Cedar Rapids

The company rebranded from Involta to Ark Data Centers in May 2024. It traces its origins to 2007, when Technology Resources Company and CoVault Technology merged to form Involta. Services center on enterprise colocation and cloud infrastructure, with sites across seven U.S. states. In February 2022, funds managed by Carlyle completed the acquisition of Involta.

History:

• 2024 May: Rebranded from Involta to Ark Data Centers.
• 2022 Feb: Carlyle’s acquisition of Involta closed.
• 2021 Dec: Carlyle agreed to acquire Involta.
• 2015 Jun: Acquired assets of Data Recovery Services, including two Youngstown data centers and about 5,500 fiber miles in Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
• June 2014: Involta Acquires Data Recovery Services (DRS)
  The assets of DRS include more than 5,500 fiber miles in Ohio and western Pennsylvania, two Youngstown-based data centers, an operations management agreement for the WeConnect Community Data Center near Columbus, and leased data center space in Pittsburgh.
• 2007: Formed through the merger of Technology Resources Company and CoVault Technology.
• The evolution of Involta began with the founding Technology Resources Company(TRC) in 1998. CoVault Technology was founded in early 2006 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Involta was formed in 2007 through the merger of Technology Resources Company and CoVault Technology, LLC. The combination of CoVault, the only colocation data center company in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor, with the data management expertise of TRC creates a company that can both house and provide support for customers’ increasingly critical data infrastructure.
