Amp Z is developing a gigawatt-scale data center campus known as Project LufKin on the site of the former Southland Paper Mill in East Texas.

The project features an aggressive electrical timeline, utilizing its existing 55MW grid connection with plans to expand to 175MW by late 2026 and 1.1GW by 2028. To further scale the facility, the company aims to include 1GW of on-site self-generation capacity by 2029, bringing the total potential to 2.1GW. Currently spanning approximately 1,041 acres, the site is reportedly expandable to 4,000 acres, positioning it as a major hub for AI-native digital infrastructure.

Originally established in the late 1930s, the Southland Paper Mill (later operated as Abitibi Bowater Inc.) ended its operations in 2007. Following a failed sale to another party in 2009, the property was acquired at auction in 2010 by Verdant Industries for $11 million.
