The AWS Clinton Data Center Project is a massive economic initiative in Hinds County, Mississippi, representing a total capital investment that has scaled up to $1 billion.
Developed by Amazon Web Services, the project focuses on an innovative, "speed-to-market" brownfield retrofit of a massive industrial facility located at 1001 Industrial Park Drive. The property currently spans 730,000 square feet (67,820 square meters) on a 55-acre site. Originally built in 1972, the historic site was previously occupied by Delphi and Milwaukee Tool before its current transformation. To accommodate the extensive infrastructure required for the data center, AWS has reportedly purchased an additional 44 acres of land, as per a recently secured quitclaim deed, bringing the total site footprint to nearly 100 acres.
This high-density facility is strategically engineered to support artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing workloads while utilizing a closed-loop system requiring zero potable water for cooling.
