Switch's Data Ranch campus sits at 4100 Smith School Road in southeast Austin (Travis County), about 10 minutes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

  • Land: 43.5 acres in five adjoining parcels: Lots 1-4 of the Data Ranch Subdivision (about 37 acres) and a 6.5-acre tract on the west side. Lot 1 holds the two existing buildings; Lots 2-4 (about 23 acres) are vacant.
  • Ownership: Data Foundry, owned by the Yokubaitis family, developed the campus and broke ground in August 2010. Switch bought Data Foundry for $420 million in cash, and the deal closed in June 2021. Switch groups the campus in its Central Prime ("The Rock"). Title sits with TX AUS 2 LLC (Lot 1), Switch Ltd (Lots 2-4) and TX AUS 2 & 3 LLC (the 6.5-acre tract).
  • Power: Austin Energy serves the campus. Underground feeds in concrete duct banks come from two independent substations. A 2010 site plan added about 2,100 feet of offsite electric line from Metropolis Drive.
  • Water and fiber: Two independent water feeds (48-inch and 18-inch mains) and diverse carrier entry points. Data Foundry listed more than 17 carriers.
  • Expansion: Switch filed a site plan in 2023 to expand the first building and add a third, reported as a 300,000 sq ft data center beside a new Austin Energy substation. That plan expired in 2024. A 2026 refiling to expand the two existing buildings is in city review.
