Digital Realty: Stockholm Kista Campus

Digital Realty's Stockholm campus sits in Akalla, in northern Kista, about 15 km north of central Stockholm beside the E4 motorway. It is the main Nordic interconnection hub of the former Interxion network.

• Land and buildings: The campus occupies parts of two neighboring former newspaper printing plants. The original data centers sit inside the DN/Expressen plant at Esbogatan 11 (property Vanda 3, built 1990-1993), where Digital Realty leases space. Bonnier Fastigheter sold Vanda 3 to Pictet and Brunswick Real Estate in 2020, and Barings bought it in 2022. The newest data center sits next door in the former Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet plant at Vandagatan 3 (property Vanda 1, 3.8 ha of land), which Digital Realty's InterXion Sverige AB bought from Catena in 2022.
• History: Interxion opened the campus in 2000 and added five data centers between 2013 and 2020. Digital Realty acquired Interxion in 2020 and rebranded the campus in 2022.
• Power: Ellevio owns the local grid. Each customer has two power feeds, each with its own UPS and generator backup. Vattenfall supplies the energy, and in 2025 the two companies began hourly 24/7 renewable matching with smart meters across all six data centers.
• Cooling and heat reuse: Remote seawater cooling since 2009, plus free and adiabatic cooling with cold-aisle containment. Waste heat has gone to Stockholm Exergi's district heating network since 2015, with Digital Realty-owned heat pumps in the newest building.
• Connectivity: More than 80 carriers, ISPs and CDNs, access to the Netnod and STHIX exchanges, and dual or triple fibre entry through six ducts.
• Certifications: ISO 27001, ISO 22301, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, SOC 2, PCI DSS and the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres. The newest data center meets Swedish Security Class III (MSB).
