Data Center Campus
Digital Realty (DRT) has acquired approximately 1,440 acres of powered land at the Astra Enterprise Park in De Soto, Kansas from Sunflower Redevelopment Group for $475 million.
Referred to in local city documents as "Project Jayhawk," the hyperscale project begins with an initial 280-acre phase named Astra North, planned to feature up to nine buildings totaling roughly 3 million square feet (278,710 square meters) alongside an on-site substation.
To power the campus, Digital Realty secured an energy service agreement with Evergy to deliver 600MW of utility power by early 2028, scaling up to 2GW at full capacity under Kansas's higher large-load tariff. The facility will primarily rely on outside air-cooling with evaporative backup during peak temperatures, and Digital Realty intends to fund a new industrial wastewater treatment plant to support the regional development, which already hosts Panasonic's battery production plant.
