Data center developers are exploring opportunities in Yuma, Arizona, according to Mayor Douglas Nicholls. Speaking on Facebook last week, Nicholls said, “Data centers are interested in coming to Yuma, and next week during our Yuma City Council retreat we will begin discussing the topic of data centers.”
Nicholls noted that no specific company has yet submitted an application or request to build a data center in Yuma. He also emphasized that his own company, the civil engineering firm Core Engineering Group, “is not tied to nor connected to any construction of a data center.”
Data centers were a key topic at a Yuma City Council meeting on Wednesday, April 1, where the Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation presented potential projects. Several audience members also voiced opposition to any prospective data center developments.
