Wind River Internet (WRI) has announced plans for a potential data center in Fremont County, Wyoming. The company revealed that it is hosting a public meeting on the 14th of December, 2022. The company plans to seek citizen input regarding developing a data center in Fremont County.
The Executive Manager of WRI, Pat Lawson, said: “We are applying for a Wyoming Business Council grant to do a feasibility study. “It’s a requirement of the grange, and I would like to see if there is support and interest. There is a massive amount of unused bandwidth for hosting. It is a very good opportunity to place a data center in between our two power companies and have it augmented with solar or other energy sources.” Lawson noted that the planned data center would be a large-scale facility that would host large cloud providers.
Wind River Internet (WRI) provides internet to residences and businesses across Fremont County. It provides voice, fiber, fixed and managed wireless, and TV services. The company currently operates several mini data centers across Fremont County.
