Microsoft has announced the launch of two new data center facilities in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The facilities are located in Bison Business Park and the Cheyenne Business Parkway. The facilities will support Microsoft’s West Central US Azure region. VP of core operations for data centers at Microsoft, Sergio Loureiro, said expanding digital capabilities in Wyoming will allow Microsoft to meet the increasing demand in the region. He revealed that the company is happy to continue supporting the development of diverse businesses in Wyoming while also anticipating partnerships with state and local leaders to improve economic opportunities and job creation.

According to Microsoft, sustainability is important, which is why it is making major efforts to conserve water. It is also working to preserve Cheyenne’s water resources by using adiabatic cooling. Loureiro also noted that Microsoft is investing in a sewer, water, and road infrastructure to ensure easy access to Bison Business Park. Microsoft has been operating data centers in Wyoming since 2012. The company also opened its West Central Azure region in 2016 with one Availability Zones. The new facilities it opened will now upgrade the region to the standard three Availability Zones.
