A new data center has been opened by the University of Turbat (UoT) in Balochistan, Pakistan. Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar inaugurated the conclusion of the first phase and the first phase of the 1MW solar initiative at the university. The capacity of the data center is unknown at this time. Kakar stated at the inauguration that Balochistan's public universities have to generate their resources and grow financially self-sufficient; otherwise, they will have trouble staying afloat in the future years. He also emphasized the significance of achieving compatibility with the latest advances in science and technology.

Kakar added that additional steps would be implemented to enhance the quality of higher education and advance research. UoT is linked to PERN 2, providing organizations access to web-based services, an intranet, a National Digital Library, VoIP, and cloud-hosted local content.

As shown by the Data Center Map, the majority of Pakistan's market for data centers is concentrated in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. After flooding damaged cables in August last year, Pakistan experienced widespread blackouts. Telenor has been attempting to exit the Pakistani market for several months. The company announced in November 2022 that it was considering a $1 billion exit from the country, with PTCL planning to make an offer in February.
