A data center for sale or lease is available in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Colliers and Five 9s Digital are offering the McKees Rock facility located at 615 McMichael Road. The site is listed for lease in Colliers' materials, but Five 9s claims it can be purchased or leased. The circa 1980-constructed and 2008-renovated 41,370-square-foot building offers 17,115 square feet of expandable data center space and 3.5MW of power. In addition to UPS, PDUs, heated aisle containment design, and raised floors, the site features a 2 MW Cummins generator backup. There are 27 offices, 143 cubicles, and six conference spaces on the property. The facility is believed to be 'plug and play' ready, and Five 9s has an asking price of $9 million or is available for lease at $18 per square foot on a NNN lease.
According to Colliers, the site would be optimal for robotics, biomedical, contact center, tech/flex, and value-added manufacturing uses. At least a portion of the property had been leased to the Dream Center Foundation, an education service that entered receivership in 2018 following allegations of misconduct. The site had previously been run by Education Management Corp. (EDMC), which sold a number of its assets to Dream Center in 2017 before declaring bankruptcy the following year as a result of its legal issues. In 2010, EDMC leased the property from Sampson Morris Group and invested approximately $24 million to convert it into a data center.
