Open Access Data Centres (OADC) is looking to launch nine Edge data centers across South Africa. The company announced that it would deploy Edge facilities in East London, Paarl, New Germany, Pietermaritzburg, Beaufort West, Mount Edgecombe, Kimberley, George, and Brits in a few months. Upon completion of all Edge facilities, OADC will have a total of 26 Edge facilities online and a core data center in Durban.
WIOCC owns open Access Data Centres (OADC). In November last year, WIOCC announced that it had successfully raised $200m to launch an African-focused data center network called OADC. OADC also announced later that it would invest up to $500m over the next five years. The planned edge facilities are part of the company’s development spree.
