NorthC has started construction on its sixth data center in Switzerland, a 4.5MW facility in Meyrin on the edge of Geneva. The building at The Hive technology park will deliver 4.5MW of IT capacity across 5,400 square meters (58,125 sq ft), released in phasesnorthcdatacenters.comOfficial press visual illustrating the newly announced Geneva facility from NorthC. of 1.5MW, according to NorthC's announcement. Completion is expected in the second quarter of 2028.

Swiss real estate developer HIAG is carrying out construction. NorthC develops the project and will operate it. The Geneva site follows NorthC's standard modular blueprint, which lets the operator add and activate modules as demand grows. A direct high-speed connection will link the Geneva facility to NorthC's other Swiss sites.

The facility will use waterless cooling and is designed to support direct-to-chip liquid cooling for AI inference and high-performance computing loads. Backup generators will run on HVO100, a fossil-free fuel made from renewable materials, and the site will use 100% green power.

Waste heat from the servers will supply nearby buildings at The Hive campus. NorthC says the site is also being prepared for a possible future connection to the district heating network run by the local energy company.

"This is a milestone for NorthC and another significant step in our growth in the DACH region," the company said on LinkedIn this week, thanking HIAG, its partners and local authorities. Urs Bürgisser, NorthC's managing director for Switzerland, said he was "proud to have been part of the groundbreaking ceremony for our new Geneva data center in Meyrin last week."

"Geneva is an important commercial and economic hub in Switzerland, alongside the Basel and Zurich regions," said Alexandra Schless, chief executive of NorthC Group. The project was first announced in January 2026.

Baxtel tracks 12 data center facilities in Geneva with 46MW of capacity, the largest being STACK Infrastructure's GEN02 site at 26MW. NorthC was formed in 2019 from the merger of Dutch operators TDCG and NLDC, originally a KPN subsidiary, and Antin Infrastructure Partners acquired the company in December 2025.

NorthC is also building in Basel, where the first phase at the uptownBasel campus in Arlesheim is due to launch in mid-2027 with 5.5MW across 2,500 sqm. At Biel, NorthC is adding 2MW of capacity with Edico Engineering and Tri-Air, expanding the cooling supply and UPS systems.
