Digital Realty Begins Construction On Fourth Data Center In Zurich, Switzerland

Digital Realty has started construction on a new data center in Glattbrugg, Zurich, Switzerland. The ZUR4 facility will provide 15MW of IT capacity across around 6,300 sqm (67,810 sq ft) and is expected to go live in 2028. The project will expand Digital Realty’s existing Zurich campus, which includes ZUR1, ZUR2, and ZUR3. ZUR4 will support high-density and AI workloads with advanced cooling systems.

Yves Zischek, managing director of Digital Realty in Austria and Switzerland, said: “With ZUR4 and the continued expansion of our campus in Glattbrugg, we are creating a future-proof ecosystem that connects more than 200 customers on-site and more than 6,000 customers worldwide.”

Digital Realty’s three operational Swiss data centers provide around 25,000 sqm (269,100 sq ft) of colocation space and 45MW of capacity. ZUR1, operational since 2000, offers 5MW across 7,400 sqm. ZUR2 began construction in 2019 and became operational around 2020. ZUR3 was announced in 2020 and, at full build-out, will provide 11,000 sqm (118,500 sq ft) and 24MW of capacity.
