Spain’s Nethits Telecom has revealed plans to construct a data center in Valencia, Spain. The firm said it would be investing €241 million ($281m) into the facility to make it the largest data center in Valencia. According to the Company, the facility will be built to Tier IV standard. It will also have up to 20,000 sqm (215,200 sq ft) of space and 20MW capacity.
Nethits also revealed that it chose Valencia as the location of the data center facility because of the high interest it received from the Valencian Government. The interest is a big step from the government in attracting investment in the technology sector. Nethits has confirmed that work is scheduled to begin in Q2 of 2022. It also plans to start operation at the facility in 2025.
Nethits acquired the services of data center developer Quark for the facility. Although the facility's exact location is still unknown, the Company wants to source solar power for the data center.
