Jakarta-based PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (Mitratel) revealed last week that it recently acquired 803 towers from infrastructure operator PT Gametraco Tunggal for around $113 million.
The Telkom Indonesia subsidiary noted that this acquisition includes 1.327 tenants, confirming that 562 of the 803 towers which is about 70 percent of the recently acquired towers are located outside Java.
Mitratel president and director, Theodorus Ardi Hartoko said, "Expanding market share outside Java has become a strategic agenda for a number of telecommunications operator companies.” He added, "This expansion is in line with the increasing need for internet in various regions along with even distribution of economic growth. As the main player in this business and part of a BUMN, of course we have to be at the forefront in helping their expansion,"
