Microsoft Azure: Microsoft Announce Plans For Hyderabad Cloud Region

Microsoft has revealed its plans for an Azure data center region in India. Microsoft’s potential cloud region in India will be in Hyderabad. However, it didn’t disclose any other details about the region. According to the Economic Times of India, Microsoft bought 22 acres of land in Mekaguda for Rs 40 crore (~$5.1m), Chandenvelly for Rs 72 crore (~$9.3m), and 22 41 acres for Rs 164 crore (~$21.2m).

Besides, there have been reports circulating since last year that Microsoft wants to develop a facility in the area. Microsoft India’s president, Anant Maheshwari, said cloud services would play a major role in shaping the future of governance and business, enabling overall inclusion in the country. He added that the new facility would enhance the company’s cloud capacity and capabilities across the country. The company opened three cloud regions in the country in 2015. The regions are located in Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai. Later in 2021, It also added three availability regions in Pune.
