Facebook: Meta signs PPA in Texas

Meta has announced that it has signed a new PPA for solar energy. The PPA, with Avangrid, will see the giant source 240MW of energy from the True North solar farm which is currently under development in Falls County, Texas, the former's first in the state. The solar farm is set to launch in early 2025.

Pedro Azagra, Avangrid's CEO, commented: "We are proud to sign this agreement with a partner like Meta who, like us at Avangrid, has a strong commitment to accelerating the energy transition in the US. Further, Azagra said that projects like True North show the company's continued commitment to its mission of helping the country meet its ambitious clean energy goals, while also "creating quality jobs and strengthening our local economies."

Urvi Parekh, head of renewable energy at Meta, added: "We're excited to expand our partnership with Avangrid to help bring new solar energy to support our local operations in Texas. True North will support our commitment to 100 percent renewable energy and represents additional investment and jobs for the region."
