Meta: Meta Sells Mesa Property to EdgeCore Data Centers

Meta has sold a property in Mesa, Arizona, to the developer of data centers, EdgeCore Internet Real Estate, for $1.2 million. The lot, situated at 3856 S. Everton Terrace and comprising approximately 15 acres of land, has been acquired by EdgeCore as part of its substantial investment in the Phoenix metropolitan area. According to the Phoenix Business Journal, Meta has sold the land since it no longer requires it and will no longer collaborate with EdgeCore on future development. Meta also owns the neighboring plot of land, which has not yet been sold. EdgeCore plans to construct a 225MW data center facility on the land, per Inflect. The entire floor space is anticipated to exceed 1,200,000 square feet and will be available for bulk rentals.

On the outskirts of Phoenix, the firm already has a substantial site in the Elliot Road Technology Corridor in Mesa. The facility is 1,100,000 square feet and provides 170MW of capacity across five data centers. Other data centers are in Ashburn, Virginia; Reno, Nevada; and Silicon Valley, California. In 2021, using the alias Redale LLC, Meta bought 396 acres in Mesa for an $800 million data center at 3841 S Ellsworth Road. Meta may have sold EdgeCore a portion of this property. The business then added three additional buildings to this project. The project's first building is anticipated to be delivered in 2023, and the 2.5 million square foot complex will be finished in 2026. It is unknown whether Meta is rearranging its plans at the location due to the 'rescoping' of some of its data center projects to better support AI workloads.
