Pakistan-based telecommunication company Jazz has launched a new data center facility in Islamabad, Pakistan. The 3MW data center cost the company $8 million. It currently has 300 racks, with a capacity to be expanded in the future to 450 racks. According to Jazz, the new facility is the largest Telco Industry Association Tier III certified facility in the country. Jazz will offer hardware hosting facilities and secure IT infrastructure to local startups and businesses. The facility will also host Jazz’s new cloud platform, which is launching soon.
The CEO of Jazz, Aamir Ibrahim, said the company’s new data center is a great milestone for Pakistan’s ICT industry. He noted that the facility would help ease the problems of digital infrastructure in the country. Ibrahim added that the data center is at the core of Jazz’s business strategy. Jazz was founded in 2017 through a merger between Wari and Mobilink. It is wholly owned by Veon.
