Nepali telecom Ncell has opened a new data center in Lalitpur. The Axiata-owned telecommunications company has reportedly established a new data center in the Nakkhu neighborhood of Lalitpur, just south of Kathmandu. The corporation invested over $15,1 million in the project, which it claims is the largest in the nation. In addition, the two-story structure is constructed utilizing a prefabricated containerized layout and can withstand earthquakes measuring up to nine on the Richter scale. It has a capability of up to 5MW and a redundant intended load of 2.25MW, with 250 racks spread over three data halls on a 16,530 sq ft site.

The construction of the plant began in 2018 and was finished in 2021; however, the firm has just lately announced that it would be operational. The telecommunications provider will provide colocation services and host its own services. Ncell's chief technology and enterprise business executive, Mohammad Adil Israr, disclosed to Setopati that the company collaborated with Huawei on the facility. The corporation asserts that the site has been classified Tier III, yet it is not yet included on the Uptime site.

Incorporated in 2004 as Spice Nepal, the firm was bought in 2008 by Sweden's Telia, previously TeliaSonera, and renamed Ncell in 2010. In 2015, Axiata purchased the bulk of the company's shares. Ncell operates locations in Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Hetauda, and Pokhara (Lekhnath), according to reports.Nepali telecommunications company Subisu opened a new data center in Kathmandu in 2022. WorldLink, a local Internet service provider, has declared intentions to construct 14 small data centers around the country by 2021; at now, the business appears to run just a colocation site in Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
